Former Kiambaa parliamentary aspirant Damaris Wambui Waiganjo has defected from Jubilee to the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party that is affiliated with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Wambui who was floored by Kariri Njama during the Jubilee party nomination ahead of the Kiambaa by-election that was held in July says that her political move was informed by the dictatorial nature of major political parties and lack of fairness in the nomination process.

Speaking to People Daily Digital, Wambui stated that most youth and women are tired of linked politics and no longer desire to support aspirants based on euphoria but their ideologies and leadership skills.

"I and many other aspiring members have joined CCK not only to run away from big parties and their dictatorial systems but also for the benefit of our people and the country at large," she said.

"In any transitioning government, the incoming parliament is very floral and many parliamentarians are elected on an individual basis as opposed to a party euphoria," added Wambui.

She stated that MP Kuria had assured them of his support towards making the "much needed" revolutionary changes in the country's political landscape.

"We want new faces, fresh blood, revitalized leaders and this has been assured by our party leader Moses Kuria," said Wambui.

Wambui will be seeking to run against the newly elected MP Njuguna Wanjiku who closely beat Jubilee Party's Kariri Njama.
