Gatundu North Member of Parliament Wanjiku Kibe now claims UDA presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua and his lieutenants are cowards.

In a statement, the legislator claimed Gachagua insulted and disrespected her during a recent rally in the central region.

She said the Mathira lawmaker and his troops should exercise tolerance and keep off Jubilee party matters ahead of the August 9 general election.

Kibe claimed that Gachagua, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa and other leaders affiliated with Deputy President William Ruto also disrespected Gatundu North residents after they allegedly insulted Jubilee candidates in the area.

She said that despite the insults, over 50 per cent of Gatundu North residents are behind the ruling party and the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition.

"Someone advice Gachagua, Ichungwa and their brigade of cowards who came to insult me yesterday in Mang'u and Gatukuyu that they must learn to be tolerant and respect other people's political affiliations. It may be imperative for them to know that over 50% of residents of Gatundu North are followers of Azimio actively and silently," Kibe said.

"As the current seating Member of Parliament for Gatundu North, I've atmost respect for all my people regardless of their political affiliations and I serve all dilligently without discrimination regardless."

Woo Gachagua

Kibe insisted that she has launched a campaign to woo Gachagua and his lieutenants to Azimio, a scheme she alleges is almost successful.

"The only thing I've been trying to do and I've halfway suceeded, is to respectively appeal to them to join me on my political side so that we can all read from the same page as we aspire to move Gatundu North to the next level come Aug 2022 elections," the MP added.

"Coming to abuse me in my constituency and to threaten me is being disrespectful to the great people of Gatundu North and is a true exhibition of their cowardly approach to politics. Surely as a country, we can't go that route.

"Please be advised that I'm proudly and consciously in Jubilee/Azimio na sibanduki (I won't change)."

Gachagua campaigns in Githunguri

Gachagua and other Kenya Kwanza leaders spent the better part of June 16 at Githunguri, Gatundu South and North popularizing Ruto's presidential bid.

Today, Ruto's deputy, in the company of other leaders will be in Ruiru, Juja and Thika constituencies.
