Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has maintained that his quest to run for the country's presidency in 2022 is still on and he hopes Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga will support his bid.

Speaking to a local TV station, Mutua said that though he has been attending Raila's Azimio la Umoja rallies, his ambition to vie for the top seat is still on.

“I am not relinquishing my dream to take over the running of this country,” Mutua said.

According to Mutua, he only attends Raila's rallies because he admires his push to unite Kenyans regardless of their tribe or gender.

Mutua, however, noted that he is ready to work with Raila in the future when the time is ripe to form a coalition. He believes that when that time reaches, the ODM chief will support his presidential dreams.

“We have worked together and you will see more coalitions coming together and people joining hands… When push comes to shove I hope Raila Odinga will support me,” he told the TV station in an interview.

The governor revealed that if he doesn't vie for the presidency come next year, he will vote for Raila for the top seat.
