Former Nairobi Governor Evan's Kidero now says he was was not consulted to support Gladys Wanga for Homa Bay governor seat in the August 9 polls.

Kidero, who has been campaigning for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, has since decamped to Independent after the outfit gave Wanga a direct ticket.

"Consensus is when everybody agrees through a process. I was not consulted to back Gladys Wanga.

"The people of Homa Bay deserve the right to choose a leader of their own choice," Kidero said when he appeared on K24 TV breakfast show.

Kidero said the party leadership lied that they consulted seven aspirants who stepped down for Wanga, saying there are no such number of aspirants in the county.

"I was not invited to the purported meeting of seven aspirants on Saturday who agreed to support Wanga for the seat," Kidero said.

The former city governor also faulted the ODM party for conducting bungled primaries in 2013 that "denied" the people of Homa Bay to choose the right candidate in the general election.
