Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula has threatened to quit the Amani National Congress (ANC) party if its leader Musalia Mudavadi joins hands with Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking to a local media outlet, Savula said that he will only be associated with Mudavadi if he declares his support for ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He said Mudavadi was better placed to work with Odinga and not Ruto.

This comes just two days after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala joined a mega rally that was hosted by DP Ruto in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County.

“We have procedures to be followed once you quit from one party to the other, so if Musalia decides to work with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) then I have to resign from ANC first then register officially as an ODM member as per the laws,” Savula said.

Savula threatened to lead a massive walkout from ANC party especially leaders who are leaning towards Odinga.

He said that all he wants is to see Odinga win elections in August 2022.

“Mudavadi stands a better chance of receiving the power baton from Raila Odinga after his term in power, citing that the two share a long history,” Savula said.

In the last one week, Ruto has camped in the vast Western region in a bid to woo Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula into his camp.

Already, Malala over the weekend said that Mudavadi had the freedom to associate with anyone in the political field.

Speaking during Ruto’s rally in Eldoret, Malala said that ANC as a party would not be cowed to support a certain leader without their will.

He said that as a party, ANC was warming up to DP Ruto and that there is a possibility of working together.

However, Mudavadi distanced himself from the statements saying that Malala attended the rally at a personal level.
