"The NEC has resolved to expel from the party Hon. Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Sen. Tom Ojienda (Kisumu), Hon. Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Hon. Felix Odiwuor (Langata), and Hon. Caroli Omondi (Suba South) for defying party position and gross misconduct.

"Members facing allegations of violation of Article 11(1)(e) of the party constitution and Section 14A of the Political Parties Act 2011 by openly associating with and supporting activities of a rival political party and opposing lawful decisions/resolutions made by the party organs shall be deemed to have resigned from the party.

"The party is hereby directed to commence the process of removing them from the register of the party," ODM said in a statement.

In his response, Jalang'o who was being faulted for defying his party leader Raila Odinga after meeting President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua at State House, quoted a bible verse from Corinthians 10:13.

He wrote: "No trial is too heavy to lift! No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it,"
