Kabogo, Kuria denied opportunity to address mourners at Thika burial
Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo and his new political friend Moses Kuria, the MP for Gatundu South, were denied an opportunity to address mourners at a burial in Ngoingwa village in Thika, Kiambu county.
Kabogo and Kuria had attended the burial of Maina Ngunjiri, son of the owner of Maathai Supermarkets who died after a short illness.
They were denied an opportunity to address mourners in adherence to the family's decision to have no politician make a speech during the funeral service.
A moment after the presiding pastor announced the development, Kuria left without a word with journalists who had camped at the burial from the morning.
Kabogo left later but also declined calls by journalists to speak to them on various matters.
"I have an urgent matter to address in Thika town, I will call you today or tomorrow for a statement," he told journalists.
Yesterday, the former governor, in a video that has since flickered on social media stated that he had started a new journey to reclaim the position he held before his ouster by disgraced and impeached governor Ferdinand Waititu.
He accused Deputy President William Ruto's Rigathi Gachagua of dictatorship insisting that since his announcement, Ruto's camp has lost ground.
Kabogo and Kuria have been at loggerheads with senator Kimani Wamatangi who is allegedly being favoured to speak during Kenya Kwanza rallies in Mount Kenya.
The three are facing Jubilee Party's James Nyoro - the incumbent governor and independent candidate Patrick Wainaina Jungle in the governors' position.
