The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has denied claims that he is on his way to join United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

This comes after UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina said Kiunjuri has been consulting with the party on a united approach in fielding of candidates and other Hustler nation activities.

Kiunjuri, who has not fielded any candidates in the central Kenya by-elections so far gave clear indications that though he supports Ruto, he will not join UDA.

“I am building a national party. I would not want to comment on other parties. I am concentrating on building TSP,” Kiunjuri told People Daily.

Kiunjuri launched TSP in June 2020, five months after he was fired from the Cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

During the unveiling of the party on June 24, 2020, he said: "TSP members and officials have carefully listened to Kenyans and have made the commitment to bring a platform that will be unequivocal about service delivery to our people. The Service Party of Kenya want to be a grassroots national party that will not only be the voice of mwananchi wa kawaida but also that will approach politics differently."

The former CS further said his party would build its agenda by prioritising issues such as food insecurity, unemployment, poor access to the basics of life including affordable healthcare, clean water and a general feeling of abandonment.

Kiunjuri has been seen by many as a potential Ruto running from Central Kenya in the 2022 general elections.
