Mavoko Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Makau is now calling on Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga to clarify what the coalition's political rallies are meant to achieve.

The MP, who was elected on a Wiper Party ticket, said he is ready to work with the Kenya Kwanza government to ensure service delivery to his people.

Addressing members of the public at Athi-river on Wednesday, February 8, Makau who is a close ally of Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, slammed Raila's calls for mass action saying that tough economic times are not a justification for bitter picketing.

"I am a Wiper MP and I am in Azimio. I respect Azimio coalition leaders but we must negotiate the interest of the people who elected us.

"Tough economic times are being experienced beyond our borders. It is the right of every Kenyan to picket to put the government in check but I do not support mass action even before giving our government time. It is not right," Makau said.

Makau instead now wants his Ukambani counterparts to consider negotiating with President William Ruto on the development of the region lauding the ODM legislators' visit to State House on Tuesday.

Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, and MPs Felix Oduor (Langata), Walter Owino (Awendo), Mark Nyamito (Uriri), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East), Paul Abuor(Rongo), Elisha Odhiambo(Gem), Carol Omondi (Suba South), and Gedion Ochanda (Bondo) were criticised by a section of Azimio leaders for visiting Ruto who termed the move as a betrayal and a scheme to undermine Raila.

"I want my fellow leaders in Machakos and lower Eastern at large, it is important that we join hands and seek to increase the share of the national cake and development in our region.

"We have seen a section of our ODM counterparts visit State House and this is because development is the key thing we all want," Makau stated.

Raila's Mavoko rally

The Wiper leader said he will convene a political rally at Mavoko on Friday, February 10 to discuss with electorate on the need of attending the Raila-led mass action rallies.

"My people will decide my fate regarding the mass action rallies. Soon I will make a major announcement after consulting them," he added.

Makau's utterances caught many by surprise given that he is a very close ally to Kalonzo and Raila's staunch supporter.

He is currently a member of Parliamentary Public Service Commission (PSC) under the endorsement of Wiper party.
