A confrontation erupted between supporters of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and occupants of a vehicle emblazoned with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party colours minutes before the MP entered Thika Stadium for his thanksgiving ceremony.

In an incident that did not last for long, Kuria supporters attacked and chased away occupants of the UDA campaign vehicle outside the packed stadium before calm was restored.

"We have ejected them because they were campaigning outside the stadium," one of Kuria supporters wearing a Chama Cha Kazi branded t-shirt said.

While Kuria had invited the leading presidential candidates for his grand thanksgiving ceremony, none of them made it to the event.

The prayer rally, which is loaded with heavy political significance, has been boycotted by most of the elected Kiambu leaders.

The Chama Cha Kazi leader is expected to publicly declare his political plans after announcing that he will not be defending his seat.
