Kajiado Central MP Elijah Kanchory has dared the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to expel him.

Speaking on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Kanchory claimed that despite having been elected on an ODM ticket three times, he has never benefited in terms of parliamentary appointments.

"Our Constitution is very clear that there is freedom of association. We are done with 2022 politics, we are planning ahead. I have been elected through ODM three times. There is nothing I have gotten from ODM all that time in terms of leadership in parliament. Am I not able to lead even one committee in parliament?" he posed.

"For now we are looking at the people who want our friendship and those who want to walk with us. If you want us to go to the voters, let us go. The vote is with the citizens."

Kanchory's sentiments come days after ODM resolved to expel rebel members including MPs Felix Odiwuor (Jalang'o), Elisha Odhiambo, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda, and their Suba South counterpart Caroli Omondi.

ODM party leader Raila Odinga warned that the party will not condone political infidelity, days after expelling rebel members.

Speaking in Migori last week, Raila accused some of the party members of seeking "cheap" favours from those in power, deviating from party policy.

“Loyalty, fidelity and love for one another are the three main reasons political parties grow. ODM shall not condone political infidelity in the name of some members seeking cheap political favours from those in power," Raila stated.
