Mt Kenya region governors have announced that they are working on forming a formidable political vehicle ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The governors, Lee Kinyanjui of Nakuru county, Francis Kimemia of Nyandarua county, Nderitu Muriithi of Laikipia county and James Nyoro of Kiambu county, say that in a few months they will spearhead consensual talks that will birth a political coalition before next year's polls.

The leaders have stated that they will pay keen interest on the future of the nation. In a statement sent to newsrooms, the county heads stated they are hosting varied conversations with other leaders and political parties for the good of the country.

"In particular, The Party National Unity (PNU) and Ubuntu Peoples Forum (UPF) are in early conversations to build on their respective political advantage for the purpose of making a positive change in our country. We will also actively engage likeminded political actors, within and beyond, for the purpose of setting a formidable force," the statement read in part.

The county chiefs have lately been drumming up support for ODM leader Raila Odinga. The formation of the new party will further complicate the political matrix in the vote-rich region.
