Nairobi County Deputy Governor nominee set to be vetted today
Nairobi County Governor Deputy County Governor nominee Paul Mutunga Mutungi is set to be vetted today by the County Assembly Select Committee today at 10 am in the plenary chambers.
In a notice to the public calling for their attendance in the committee sitting, the acting Clerk Addah Anyango said they should come for the hearing or submit any information or comments on the suitability of Mutungi.
"Members of the public are hereby invited to attend the committee sitting for the approval hearing and or submit and information or comments on the sustainability or otherwise of the candidate. Written submission and evidence of the same may be made way for the sworn in affidavit and be delivered to the office of the clerk," read part of the notice.
Mutungi collected the vetting forms from the clerk's office last week on Friday and returned them with copies of his National Identification Card, Curriculum Vitae, copies of his academic credentials, clearance certificates of KRA, CID, HELB, CRB and EACC which were all original.
Soon after Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu assumed office, she nominated Chief of Staff Mutunga Mutungi to be her deputy and a notice given to the public on the approval hearing by the County Assembly Select Committee.
Governor Kananu on Tuesday, November 16, was officially sworn in as Nairobi’s 3rd Governor.
This is after taking an oath today at the COMESA grounds at KICC in a ceremony which was presided over by Lady Justice Lilian Mutende.
Nairobi had been without a governor for a period of close to two years after Mike Sonko was impeached by the Members of County Assembly.
Taking the Oath, Kananu promised to diligently serve the citizens of Nairobi.
Giving her record of work as the acting Governor, Kananu said she signed into Law the Gender Based Violence Bill, which will ensure safe houses are built in every Sub-County of Nairobi.
The Governor thanked Nairobi residents for believing in her by entrusting her with the responsibility of taking care of their daily life matters.
In a heap of praises to NMS, Kananu said Lieutenant Mohamed Badi has ensured delivery of service in close collaboration with her office.
She has committed to work with the national government to help women through building of the safe houses for the gender based violence in the 17 Sub-counties.
