Nyandarua County is already in a campaign mode with politicians increasing their presence on social platforms in a bid to endear themselves to residents.

But their moves and activities are being monitored closely by the incumbents and would-be opponents.

Yesterday, former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki posted on her social media account that she was politically being spied on after somebody had sent her a message inquiring on what post she will vie for in 2027.

Nomination stage

She vied for the Nyandarua gubernatorial seat in 2022 but her supporters believe her victory in the nomination stage was stolen at the Jubilee House where the party ticket was given to the then incumbent Francis Kimemia. Kimemia went on to lose the seat to Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha who registered a near landslide victory.

Others whose activities are being monitored is the Nyandarua County Woman Representative, Faith Gitau, who is said to be interested in governorship in 2027.

She confirmed that her presence in the County is normally a source of discomfort for some people.

“I don’t know why my presence in the County causes anxiety, yet I’m doing my work. I am not fighting anybody or telling people whom to vote for.  “Let each elected leader stick to their roles of developing Nyandarua. Hospitals should be stocked with medicine, roads maintained and license tariffs reviewed well,” she said when she launched NGAAF/INEET programe in the County, at the Nyandarua national Polytechnic ground last weekend.
