KANU national chairman Gideon Moi on Tuesday revealed that One Kenya Alliance (OKA) has begun negotiations with their counterparts in Azimio la Umoja movement for a possible coalition agreement that will see the two sides field one presidential candidate in the coming elections.

Speaking to aspirants at the party's national headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday, Gideon said OKA principals led by him, Martha Karua (Narc Kenya), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), and Cyrus Njirongo (UDP) have started negotiating with Azimio as equal partners as they try to find out the best candidate to fly the coalition's flag.

"At the moment, we are negotiating with our friends from the other side. Negotiations between us are ongoing. They (Azimio) already have their presidential candidate, we (OKA) will also choose our presidential candidate before we meet to agree on one candidate who will present us in the August elections," Gideon said.

Gideon's statement comes days after other OKA principals indicated in a rally in Kakamega that the time was ripe for them to join hands with Raila Odinga.

Reports say that OKA wants to join the Azimio la Umoja movement through a working cooperation agreement they have with the Jubilee party.

The reports say that though OKA will join Azimio, they will not have an agreement with Raila but with the Jubilee Party because of the mistrust issues between ODM and Wiper that resulted from their bitter fallout in National Super Alliance (NASA).

“Talks are ongoing with Azimio and Jubilee and we are not cowards and nobody will not be cowed,” Jirongo said.

OKA is said to have listed some irreducible minimums that must be met before it joins the Azimio camp.
