Azimio-One Kenya leaders have been meeting in Mombasa to draw up the list of parliamentary leaders ahead of the start of business this afternoon.

Sources told People Daily that ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka led the meeting in which names of the membership of the House Business Committee (HBC) and other key committees were agreed on.

The sources said the two leaders were accompanied by MPs Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Robert Mbui (Kathiani), Makali Mulu (Kitui Central) and Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.

“This retreat was necessary so that the House Business Committee is well composed bringing on board the Azimio fraternity. There are some leadership positions for the committees which belong to the party not forming a government which we felt necessary to be canvassed,” said a source who did not want to be named.

Although People Daily could not independently verify the membership and leadership of the oversight committees, sources disclosed that nominated MP and ODM chairman John Mbadi was settled on to chair National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The Azimio leaders are said to have also discussed the sharing of the Political Parties Fund among the key pillars of the Azimio coalition ODM, Wiper, Jubilee and Kanu.

The team is also said to have discussed the membership of the powerful Parliamentary Service Commission.

While the National Assembly is yet to submit names to the Speaker for the composition of the HBC, the Senate has proposed the names to the House Business Committee and will be seeking the nod of the House this afternoon.
