ODM Leader Raila Amollo Odinga stated on Saturday October 2, 2021 that he is ready to endorse a political ally for presidency but after his ascension to a powerful seat.

The former Prime Minister, who was speaking at a funeral service in Bungoma county, stated that he will only retire from active politics after delivering the country from its economic burdens.

In what he has dubbed as the 'third liberation', Odinga stated that his new political journey is geared at fixing the country's economy that suffered a big brunt from the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We are going to bring economic revolution while in power before passing the mantle to someone else," he said.

Raila's statement comes in the backdrop of recommendations by certain quarters that he should endorse one of his erstwhile co-principals, at the now defunct Nasa coalition, to battle it out with Deputy President William Ruto in next year's polls.

Raila also assured the crowd at the funeral that he will revive certain parts of the Building Bridges Initiative once he is at the helm of the country's leadership. He stated the constitutional reforms document, that was declared unconstitutional by the Court of appeal, proposed viable recommendations that aimed at benefiting all Kenyans.

Raila stated that upon his ascension to power, he will ensure that the BBI recommendations are implemented at all costs.

"To bring 35 percent of resources to the counties, we must pass and implement the BBI and we are going to do so come next year," he said.
