Ruto skips Devolution Conference, proceeds to political campaigns in Nyandarua county

Deputy President William Ruto has skipped the 7th Annual Devolution Conference that he was set to close with an address. The second-in-command is instead holding a political event in Ndaragwa Constituency, Nyandarua County.

The 7th Annual Devolution Conference, held in Makueni County, was officialy opened on Tuesday November 23, 2021 and was set to come to a close on Friday November 26, 2021.

On the opening day, the event was graced by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as well as a host of Cabinet Secretaries led by Fred Matiang’i (Interior), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Eugene Wamalwa (Defence) and Monica Juma (Energy). President Uhuru Kenyatta also addressed the conference virtually on its opening day.

None of the Ruto allied governors attended the event. County heads who have been gravitating towards the Handshake political wing led by Council of Governors chairman and Embu Governor Martin Wambora were however in attendance.

Other governors who were present included Ukambani bosses, Alfred Mutua, Charity Ngilu, and host Kivutha Kibwana who have announced their unequivocal support for Raila’s presidential bid.
