Sicily tells off critics over meddling of CSs in politics
Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary (CS) Sicily Kariuki has dismissed calls by a section of leaders urging ministers to keep off politics.
The CS said that they have an obligation to let people know of development projects undertaken by the national government.
“There are individuals going round saying that CSs should not work outside their offices, because they don’t want to hear us telling Kenyans what President Uhuru Kenyatta has done,” she said.
Kariuki said that they will ignore such calls and will continue to tell the good stories on the achievements of the national government.
“The government has done a lot in terms of development and more is still being done. This is the message we are telling people, but others are not ready to hear this, so that they can continue amplifying their narrative of lies against the government,” she said.
The CS spoke yesterday during her inspection of multi-million shillings irrigation and water conservation projects being undertaken by the national government in Tetu and Kieni sub counties in Nyeri County.
The CS inspected Sh800 million Kaigonji Irrigation project in Tetu. The project set to be completed by January next year is expected to benefit over 5,000 residents.
She also inspected the construction of Sh280 million 60km Mount Kenya
Ecosystem Wildlife control solar fence around Ngondi forest in Kieni in order to contain human-wildlife conflict and help in forest conservation.
