UDA unveils National Elections Board
By Jeremiah Kiplang’at
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party yesterday unveiled its National Elections Board (NEB), setting the ball rolling for its highly anticipated nominations scheduled for April.
The board is composed of Anthony Mwaura, Salome Beacco, Aurelia Rono, Ummi Bashir, Matiko Chacha, Raphael Chimera and Halake Dida.
Deputy President William Ruto, the Party Leader, chaired the first meeting bringing together the Board and the outfit’s National Executive Committee at the Karen residence in Nairobi.
Sources told People Daily the NEB members would go on a retreat in Naivasha this week to agree on who chairs it. They will also set the party’s election’s programme including coming up with the date for the nominations.
The party said it has attracted over 7,000 aspirants who will be seeking the party’s ticket to vie for various seats in the coming nominations.
With the nominations expected to test the strength of the party, Ruto urged the board to work closely with NEC to ensure free and fair elections to avert any disastrous fallouts.
Party Secretary General Veronica Maina recently said the NEC and the NEB will work hand in hand to ensure its nominations are credible.
