Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has taken a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing him of turning a blind eye to the future political leadership of the Mt Kenya region.

Taking to his Facebook page on Sunday, November 14, Kuria accused Uhuru of letting down Mt Kenya’s political future in the country by firing former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri.

“One of the only two  Cabinet Ministers Uhuru Kenyatta had the guts to fire throughout his 10 years in power, the self-made Kiunjuri is back to the Laikipia ashes where he rose from. He is not alone. Gitobu Imanyara has been in and out of hospital bed out of complications arising from Nyayo torture Chambers,” Kuria said.

In his statement, Kuria also compared Uhuru’s leadership to that of Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) leader Raila Odinga stating that the ODM chief never let his political lieutenants fade into oblivion.

“Compare with other regions. Anyang Nyongo and James Orengo are still going strong even when Raila Odinga had all the powers he needed to vanquish them into smithereens. They now co-exist in leadership alongside youthful leaders like John Mbadi and Edwin Sifuna,” Kuria said.

The Gatundu South lawmaker further accused Uhuru of letting down NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua and former FORD Asili presidential candidate Paul Muite.

“Martha Karua is struggling to raise her head in a crowded crowd. Paul Muite's political career withered like a failed crop before harvest,” he said.

Kuria further claimed that Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi have weathered all political storms adding that they have strong and experienced hands in the national negotiating table.

“Other than Jomo Kenyatta, the only other Mt Kenya leader who let leaders grow was Mwai Kibaki. He prepared Uhuru Kenyatta for leadership first by appointing him Deputy Prime Minister then Minister for Finance in quick succession,” Kuria said.
