President Uhuru Kenyatta has told off leaders affiliated with Deputy President William Ruto for politicizing the recent crackdown on the Boda Boda industry.

The Boda Boda sector was recently put in the spotlight after a Zimbabwean diplomat was sexually assaulted by Boda Boda riders along Wangari Maathai Road.

Speaking in Kariobangi after the launch of Mama Margaret Kenyatta Children Hospital, the Head of State reassured Boda Boda riders that his administration will engage them in a robust discussion geared at coming up with a long-term solution to the problems that have plagued the sector.

"I know that you have seen what some of the politicians are saying about Boda Boda. Ignore them. I promise that we will hold a meeting soon with some of you so that we can create a framework to respect women and still do work," Uhuru said.

The Head of State also took the platform to campaign for his foe-turned-ally Raila Odinga, stating that their unprecedented 2018 truce has led to a myriad of development projects currently being flagged across the nation.

Uhuru also implored on youths to maintain peace during and before the August 9th polls.
