Uhuru’s achievement in DP Ruto’s achievement- Duale pokes holes in president’s SOTN address
Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale has poked holes in President's Uhuru Kenyatta's state of the nation address, saying his achievements during his two term era should be linked and shared alongside Deputy President William Ruto.
Duale said what is good for the president is also good for his deputy, with the outspoken legislator saying the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party shall use the achievements to campaign for the second in command towards his quest to succeed the commander in chief.
"The achievement of Uhuru Kenyatta should be shared between the two, because what is good for Uhuru is also good for his deputy, and we shall use that during our campaigns come 2022," Duale said.
Duale further poked holes in the President’s speech, saying that it clearly showed that Ruto is not President Uhuru’s choice for the top seat in the 2022 race for State House.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP Ruto and ODM's Raila Odinga’s allies were caught up in a battle of wits on who should take credit for Jubilee achievements during the debate.
Both opposing sides clashed during the debate on the President’s Tuesday speech in Parliament, as each attempted to analyse the milestones President Kenyatta elaborated.
The National assembly and senate are expected to conclude their debate on the president's address today before proceeding on Christmas recess until January.
On Tuesday, during his address in Nakuru County, President Uhuru indirectly hinted at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga's leadership as best suited for the nation.
However, in an interview with a local television on Wednesday night, Duale exuded confidence that the UDA Party, contrary to Uhuru’s view, would emerge victorious in the next year’s general election.
Nevertheless, the former majority leader in the National Assembly said the president was worried by William Ruto’s speed towards the 2022 campaign, a move he said has been a disadvantage to the ODM leader.
The legislator however agreed that the president is acting within his constitutional right by having a preferred successor.
However, Duale said that the president would have instead chosen a member of the ruling Jubilee party to succeed him, even if it's not his deputy.
Duale further condemned misfortunes and troubles directed towards DP Ruto.
