Murang’a governor, Mwangi wa Iria has said his party, Usawa Kwa Wote is not ready to form a coalition with other political parties.

Wa Iria who is eying to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come August has said he will rely on support from the vote rich central Kenya region to beat his competitors.

Addressing the press at the weekend in Muranga, the governor observed that the central region has almost 10 million voters saying if he gets about 90 percent of the votes, he will clinch the presidency’s position.

“My coalition is people from central Kenya. There is no other coalition with many voters like those from my region. I will embark on rallies starting from counties in the Mount Kenya region to seek support,” he said at Mumbi Grounds where he launched Wachuuzi Sacco, to aid small-scale business people.

Wa Iria’s sentiment comes at a time when the president signed into law Political Parties (Amendment) Bill into law, opening opportunities for formation of coalitions.

“My party will go it alone without entering into a coalition with other parties and am sure people will buy our agenda of bringing economic transformation to Kenyan,” he added.
