Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru disclosed on Tuesday October 19, 2021 that she feels intimidated by planners of the Mashujaa day celebrations, that is set to take place in her county.

Waiguru, who was speaking to a local TV station, revealed that certain forces had tactfully sidelined her in the planning of the event, despite her being the host governor.

"It makes me uncomfortable as a host governor, if I am not in control of the audience in the stadium. As a politician, one would be uncomfortable. Kirinyaga is ready to host Mashujaa Day tomorrow," she said.

The ex-Devolution minister also took the platform to shed more light about her political future. Waiguru has lately been rumuored to be warming up for Ruto's hustler nation camp ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The county chief stated that she is currently focused on retaining her seat, pouring cold water on suggestions that she deputizes a front runner in the Uhuru succession race.

"I continue to listen to the people and in due time, I will make it known where I stand politically. I would want to run for governorship in Kirinyaga for a second term," she said.

The county chief backed her earlier remarks about ,considering jumping ship to Ruto's UDA party, saying that Kenyan politics has never been premised on party ideologies. She stated that a politician keen at winning an elective seat must ensure he/she uses the political vehicle that their constituents prefer.

"As a politician, if you happen to enter the wrong ‘vehicle’, even if you are the right candidate, you will lose the election. Running for office is very expensive and if you choose a party that is difficult to sell, then it is even worse," she added.
