We will camp here until everyone is safe – CS Matiang’i assures Laikipia residents

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has assured residents of conflict ridden Ol Moran ward, Laikipia county, that he will camp in the region until everyone is safe and secure.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms the CS stated that, like other Kenyans the people of Ol Moran and areas across Laikipia deserve a peaceful environment that enables them to conduct their businesses undisturbed.

"Kama Wakenya wengine, the people Ol-Moran and areas across Laikipia need an environment where they can go about their daily businesses and enjoy peaceful nights undisturbed. That is what we will deliver. We will spend our time here until everyone is safe and secure," the CS said.

His assurance comes in the backdrop of several measures instituted by both the national and the county government of Laikipia to curb the spate of banditry attacks. The deadly attacks have claimed lives of locals and police officers stationed in the region.

The two tiers have government have jointly commenced processes of resettling displaced persons and distribution of food stuffs to the affected families.

The Interior CS is also set to oversee the construction of Ol Moran Police Divisional Headquarters, geared at beefing up security and provide a reassuring presence of police officers.

"Today we are working with Gov. Ndiritu Muriithi on the resettlement of wananchi who lost their homes in the recent criminal activity. We've also begun constructing Ol-Moran Police Divisional Headquarters to beef up security and provide a reassuring presence of our officers," Matiang'i posted.
