Winnie Odinga has poured cold water on proposals to front her name as a member of the East African Legislative Assembly ending online speculation on her alleged nomination to the regional assembly.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Nation, the last-born daughter of ODM Leader Raila Odinga stated that she is privy to information that her name has been proposed for an EALA slot.

She however averred that she is neither interested in the EALA position nor the Kibra parliamentary seat, a constituency his father represented in parliament for 15 years.

"I hear some people have proposed my name for EALA, but I am not interested. And there is also no vacancy in Kibra. My interest is in supporting my father," she said.

Winnie on her political future

Asked about her political aspirations ahead of the 2027 polls, Winnie stated that she remains grounded beside her father and will pursue the path he directs her to.

The 31-year-old stated that she will not deviate from the wishes of her father and will be strongly behind him in whatever his team decides to do.

"Winnie will be supporting Baba and his team in whatever they decide to do. I am a child of the struggle."

"So I am in this struggle for a Kenya that might be, for as long as I can manage. Participating in a political fight comes naturally to me because I was born right into it. So in 2027, Winnie will be in the struggle," Winnie stated.
