The iPhone 13 Mini is by miles one of the more condensed handsets of 2021. It will fit basically in any pocket, bag or a bodily orifice, weighing some 140 grams.

You’ve got an aluminium frame stretching around at the edges, and Apple’s ceramic shield protecting that display. The iPhone 13 Mini is certified IP68 water and dust-resistant, surviving depths of six metres.

Since its launch a couple of months ago, Apple has updated its i0S 15 to fine-tune some of the bits that weren’t quite lovely enough. There’s a great range of security and privacy features, including the green light warning when the camera is in use.

There is still no microSD support, but the storage mercifully starts at 128GB to store loads of photos and videos.

The iPhone 13 Mini sports a 5.4 inch OLED display, and there is not much difference from last year’s iPhone 12 Mini. It is a full HD+ resolution that’s 2340 by 1080 pixels, which account for supremely crisp visuals.

There is also HDR support for streaming services, and despite having limited control over the colour output, the production is pretty sharp and has good contrast.

The iPhone doesn’t have a super dim mode for comfortable night viewing, although you get the night shift feature, which has helped filter blue light.

The Mini is stuck at 60Hz full time, unlike the Pro, which can scale down to 10Hz and up to 120Hz, and even a lot of budget Android smartphones at least offer 90Hz.

The Mini has a stereo speaker arrangement, but the earpiece speaker isn’t as hot as the bottom, and even when you bump the volume, you will be treated to tinny audio.

The A15 chipset is an absolute belter. Everyday running is silky smooth, and playing games is excellent. It is not an ideal gaming handset though; long hours of gaming heats the phone.

The battery life in the 13 Mini has improved, and you can charge wirelessly, although powering it up takes longer.

The iPhone 13 has a straightforward setup; a 12MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide angle shooter.

There is no LIDAR scanner for super-fast autofocus when shooting in low light conditions. You can also shoot 4k videos at 60fps. The selfie snapper is 12MP and produces decent results.

Despite being ridiculously expensive and lacking premium features, the iPhone 13 Mini is still an excellent handset.
