15 aspirants declare interest in race to succeed CS nominee Alice Wahome

More than 15 candidates have expressed their interest to vie for Kandara parliamentary seat in the anticipated by-election.

The candidates are eyeing to replace the incumbent MP Alice Wahome who has been nominated to the cabinet to head the water docket.

Some of them were in the race to clinch the seat in the general elections held in August.

Among them include; Francis Kibe the assembly county majority leader, Lucy Ngugi, Evelyne Waithira, Njuguna Chege, Kelvin Kamau, Edward Mwaura, Raphael Kiome among others.

Speaking during Mashujaa day celebrations held in Kandara, Wahome said she is in a dilemma on which candidate to support adding that all of them are seeking her support.

"The candidates have been calling me seeking my support to clinch the seat but I have not made up my mind on who to endorse," she said.

She however said the candidate to replace her must be from the UDA party and one who will be accepted by the residents.

Further, she said whoever will replace her must be willing to complete all the pending projects.

"If the parliament approves my appointment, I know I have left a lot of unfinished projects behind, and thus whoever will take over from me must ensure the work is done," she said.

"I will continue working for the people of Kandara though in a different capacity but I believe this time I will deliver better things to them," Wahome added.

Already the candidates have been using their social media platforms and foot soldiers in the campaign.
