Members of the Hustler Nation allied to Deputy President William Ruto have accused the government of planning to sabotage the 2022 general elections.

Addressing the press at the Senate in Nairobi on Friday, July 23, the MPs said there was a deliberate plan by a cabal of state officers to manage the outcome of next year's polls.

"We have information that there is a high level conspiracy in government that will culminate into great threats to the safety and well being of the people of Kenya and to the peace and stability of the republic of Kenya," the MPs said.

In their statement, the MPs accused Interior Ministry CS Karanja Kibicho of instructing Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to set rolling a plan that will see chiefs and their assistants armed.

"PS Karanja Kibicho wrote to the IG of Police through his Deputy Moffat Kanji calling for the establishment of a sub-committee for developing of a criteria to guide government measures to arm chiefs and sub-chiefs in the country," the leaders claimed in the statement.

The MPs further said that Kibicho asked Mutyambai to provide a frame work for the proposed development of a police unit for administrators under the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) which they likened to the administration police.

They accused Ministry of Interior of planning increase the state's ability to manage the outcome of the 2022 General Election by creating violence and chaos in various parts of the country through the changes they want IG Mutyambai to institute.

" By fermenting conflict, fear and despondency, the Ministry of Interior will be able to suppress voter turn out and enable electoral malpractices and violence as was witnessed during the 2007 General elections," the legislators said.

They called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to step in and assure the nation of peace and stability.

"We call upon His Excellency the President , as Commander-In-Chief, to take decisive action in this matter and reassure all Kenyans of his commitment to the constitution, the rule of law , good governance , peace , security and safety," the statement from the MP's said in part.

The MP's also made a point of reference to the by-election in Kisii where they claimed the police service appeared to be taking their instructions from other quarters.
