Kiambu: 29-year-old womán arrested for alleged murder of her 3 children

Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu county have arrested a 29-year-old woman believed to be the prime suspect in the murder of her three daughters.

The suspect is said to have killed her biological daughters aged 7 years, 3 years and 6 months at Thogoto village on the night of Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Preliminary investigations indicate that she (the suspect) administered poison to her kids before unsuccessfully attempting to commit suicide.

Confirming the incident, Kikuyu Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Ron Kirui said that police have launched investigations to establish the motive behind the heinous act.

"We have initiated investigations and soon we shall unravel the mystery behind the killings," he said.

The woman's neighbour who is also her landlord told police that he heard weird noises coming from the suspect's house prompting him to alert other neighbours who went to check what was happening.

When they got to the suspect's house, they were shocked to find her attempting to hang herself and the children lying lifeless on the floor.

"When I and several other tenants went to check, we found that the lady had already killed the three girls and she was trying to hang herself," the landlord stated.

The suspect's husband was away working when the ugly incident happened. The suspect will be arraigned in court to face murder charges once police conclude investigations.

The bodies of the three siblings were moved to PCEA Thogoto hospital morgue pending an autopsy.
