Maranda High School has registered sterling performance in the just-released KCSE exam results with 619 candidates out of 705 qualifyings for direct university entry.

“Only 86 students missed a chance to join the university. I am proud of producing the highest number of candidates who qualified for direct university entry in the county.

One of the secrets for success is cooperation,” said the school Principal Edwin Namachanja.

He added that the achievement resulted from cooperation between teachers, parents and students.

Improved mean

Namachanja said the school registered 19 straight As and 142 A-.

“The school has a record of quality grades; A (19), A- (142), B+ (156),  B (133), B- (99), C+ (69), C- (30),  D+ (10) and D plain (6),” he said.

Speaking to the press in the school compound, the principal said the performance had improved, adding that last year they had 13As. The school mean also rose from 8.4 to 8.906.

Namachanga attributed the exemplary performance to hard work and determination.

One of the top 10, under-16 candidates in the country hailed from the school.

“Kore Ruto (16) was a very good student who was steady in his performance both internally and externally and we expect the best out of him so his quality points are not a shock to us,” said the principal.
