Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has said he is ready to face former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the fight for the Orange party presidential ticket in 2022 polls.

Speaking in Ngong town, Kajiado county yesterday, Wanjigi expressed confidence that ODM primaries will be free and fair.

“ODM is a democratic party and I am all set to face Raila in the 2022 presidential nominations should he vie for the seat on this ticket. I welcome the challenge and I am confident I will defeat him.

I am a staunch ODM member because I am certain it is a free and fair political party. Kenyans will witness a historic democratic process in the forthcoming General Election, “ said Wanjigi.

The billionaire said he is not intimidated by reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta may have settled on Raila, as his preferred candidate, saying the will of Kenyans will prevail in the nominations.

Shortest time

“I am seeing in the media that Uhuru now supports Raila’s presidential bid. That is very commendable.

I welcome the President to join ODM and drum up support for Raila while in our party,” he said.

He said he will lead ODM popularisation campaign across the county to increase its membership in an effort to ensure it delivers the next president.

“Within the shortest time possible we will increase our party membership from 2.6 million registered members to millions.

Kenyans are much ready for the leadership revolution the party will bring in the country,” he said.

Presidential hopeful called on Kajiado residents to register as members of the party.

“As ODM we are committed to reach our to Kenyans at the grassroots to understand our policies and what we stand for.

We will reach out to individuals to ensure that we adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols,” he said.
