Nakuru West Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Arama and two others have suffered a major blow after High Court overturned a lower court decision to acquit them in Sh60 million land graft case.

In a judgment delivered by Anti-Corruption court judge Justice James Wakiaga, lawmaker and his two co-accused persons will be put on their defense over the corruption allegations.

"I hereby find that the appeal by the DPP has merit and is allowed. The defendants namely MP Arama and his co-accused former Nakuru land registrar Charles Birundu and High Court lawyer Kennedy Onkoba be put on their defence," Justice Wakiaga ruled.

The decision comes after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji in May 2019 appealed the acquittal of Arama in Ksh60 million land graft case.

The judge also directed the case against the three be mentioned before Nairobi Chief Magistrate on June 15 for further directions.
