All cartels which were involved in the supply of fake fertiliser to Kenyan farmers could be arraigned in court starting today, National Assembly majority whip Silvanus Osoro (pictured) has said.

Osoro said those behind the fake fertiliser will have their day in court, regardless of their status in society or political connections.

Speaking during a funds drive in aid of Riomego Catholic Church in North Mugirango constituency, Osoro said that president William Ruto’s government was determined to reduce the cost of living and that was why it imported the subsidised fertiliser.

He also said that the national government has sent emergency funds to Kisii and Nyamira counties in a bid to address the current floods due to the ongoing heavy rains.

“We are asking our school going children to stop playing near rivers which are now flooded,’ he warned.

He disclosed that the national government has allocated Kisii county Sh400 million with Nyamira county also getting Sh200 million and challenged the two governors Simba Arati (Kisii) and Amos Nyaribo (Nyamira) to make sure that they used the funds for the intended purposes.

“This two counties are notorious for embezzling public funds meant for development. I hope they will not divert the emergency funds they have received into their pockets,” Osoro cautioned.

On Gusii politics, he said that all elected Members of Parliament from the community have resolved to put their differences aside in a bid to address development matters in their regions.
