A Jubilee aspirant in the Kibra constituency by-election yesterday sued the Party’s National Elections Board for nominating McDonald Mariga as the outfit’s candidate without conducting nominations.

Morris Peter Kinyanjui claims  the   Board did not conduct nominations as prescribed by the law and regulations.

“The decision of the board to select Mariga was in contravention of the party’s constitution,” he stated in documents filed at the Political Parties and Disputes Tribunal.

Through lawyer Benson Njagi, Kinyanjui claims that Mariga has proceeded with a campaign that is a foundation of a nomination process that was illegal.

Kinyanjui claims that he was invited for an interview via text message on August 29 at Jubilee headquarters.

However, a second message indicated that the interview had been postponed to September 2.

“I sought clarification that the interview was not a nomination and I was given an assurance by the NEB chairman that any nomination would be conducted as per nominations rules of the Jubilee party constitution,” he said in court documents.
