Several Nyandarua county government executives are set to quit governor Francis Kimemia’s administration to seek elective posts in the coming General Election.

Public Administration and ICT CEC Murani Ngugi confirmed he had already served a quit notice as he will be vying for the Kinangop MP seat. “I am serving my notice time and February 6 will be my last day of work (in the county government),” Murani who is one of Kimemia’s most trusted executives said.

His Industrialisation, Trade and Cooperatives Development counterpart Raphael Njui said he plans to give the Kipipiri MP seat another shot after he lost to Amos Kimunya in 2017.

Complicated race Political arithmetic in Kipipiri has been complicated by entrance of the East Africa Assembly MP Wanjiku Muhia who is former Nyandarua Woman Rep and declaration by former MP Samuel Gichigi that he will be seeking to recapture the seat.

The seat has attracted several other candidates who are seeking to unseat Kimunya, the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly. Njui said he has not yet resigned, adding that he was still consulting his boss to see the way forward as regards his work and intention to vie.

He promised to give more information later. Also said to be eyeing an elective post is Water executive Milka Wanjiru, who is rumoured to be interested in vying for Kiriita MCA seat.

“I am still giving (Nyandarua) people water and has not yet made up my mind on whether to vie,” she said when contacted. She served as nominated MCA in the Nyandarua before she was poached by Kimemia in 2020.

Sports, Youth and Arts executive Mary-Ann Gathigia who vied for the Gatimu ward seat in 2017 and the County government’s Chief of Staff Wachira wa Maitho could not be reached to confirm his allies claims he is “interested in vying for a seat”.

There are also several former executives who were sacked by Kimemia but are now seeking elective posts in different parts of the county.

Former Water, Tourism and Natural resources CEC Simon Ng’ang’a popularly known as Unicore has been crisscrossing Ndaragwa constituency seeking support to unseat Jeremiah Kioni.

Mbataru Kariuki, who was sacked from Public Administration and ICT docket by Kimemia, has been wooing boda boda rider groups and other social support to residents of Ol Joroorok in what is said to be laying ground work for contesting the Oljororok parliamentary seat currently held by Jubilee’s Michael Muchira who of late has been donning the UDA colours Muchira who of late has been donning the UDA colours.
