Atwoli endorses Uhuru for another presidency if BBI passes

Francis Atwoli has endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta to vie for Presidency in 2022 shall the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) constitutional amendment pass, KNA reports.

Atwoli, also the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General said Uhuru was eligible to vie again although the BBI aims at amending the 2010 Constitution and unifying Kenyans against a post-election violence.

Speaking in Kisumu on Friday during an engagement between the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union, Atwoli insisted President Uhuru is young and still capable of running the country, if he so wishes.

“Unless the President feels he has done enough, he is tired and wants to go home and rest, nothing stops him from vying again in 2022 after passing these amendments,” said Atwoli.

The COTU boss said former President Daniel Moi ruled for more than two terms after the constitutional amendment of 1992.

He lauded the BBI saying it has gains for workers.

“Every time after election we have skirmishes and the people who are affected the most are workers, women and children. Therefore, we must support this document which seeks to put an end to this menace,” he said.

Atwoli said the BBI ensures a win for every major presidential candidate in the General Elections.

He dared the anti-BBI campaigners to face his yes campaign as the country awaits a refendum.
