Azimio targets 15M votes in the presidential race
The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance has revealed that it is targeting to garner at least 15 million votes in the Presidential race, out of the possible 22 million.
In a statement after a council meeting held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Friday, June 24, 2022, the coalition political party said that it was confident of winning the August polls and forming the next government.
In preparation for the final tussle in the 2022 succession politics, the council directed the National Coalition Executive Committee to scrutinise the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voter register and submit a report by June 28, 2022.
"After reviewing various reports regarding the party’s ongoing campaign preparations for the general election and other matters related to the election, the council noted that the 2022 voters register had now been published in the Kenya Gazette and directed the National Coalition Executive Committee together with the Presidential Campaign Secretariat to interrogate the data further and report their observations back to the council by 28th June 2022," the statement read in part.
