Local football giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, on Sunday June 13, lived up to their billing by booking a date in the final of the Betway Cup albeit with breaking sweat against inexperienced sides in the semi finals staged at Utalii ground in Nairobi.

The winner between the two teams will be Kenya's representatives in the 2022 Africa Confederation Cup.

Incidentally, the Mashemejis navigated through to the grand finale set for July 4 in similar fashion by vanquishing their respective opponents on post-match penalties.

Gor beat Bidco United 4-1 on penalties after the teams had tied 1-1 in the regulation time.

Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna had given K'Ogalo the lead with an opportunistic strike in the first half before Bidco came out of their cocoons to equalize, throwing the game into penalty lottery.

For Leopards, who eliminated Tusker in the semi finals, they heaved and puffed against the gritty Equity with the normal time reading 0-0 before prevailing 6-5 on penalty shootouts.

Goals by Isaac Kipyegon, Said Tsuma,Washington Munene, Elvis Rupia, Clyde Senaji and Hansel Ochieng did it for Ingwe with Austin Odhiambo missing his spot-kick.
