Bioterrorism suspect arrested after sending chemical-laced letters to an embassy

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) are having in custody a bioterrorism suspect for sending chemical-laced letters to an embassy in Nairobi.

The DCI said the 34-year-old Tracy Wairimu Ndegwa sent two threatening letters to an embassy in Nairobi.

One of the letters was laced with an industrial chemical and the other with hay fever pesticides, said the DCI.

"34-Yr-Old Tracy Wairimu Ndegwa; a terror suspect who on 31st July, 2020 sent two threatening letters (one sprayed with an industrial chemical & the other with hay fever pesticides," said the DCI in a statement.

The suspect was arrested in Utawala estate Nairobi on Monday.

Sleuths also said the suspect had been arraigned in June with another terror charge in which she had targeted the Commissioner General of the Kenya Prisons Service Wyclife Ogalo.

Police said the suspect shall be arraigned at Kibera Law Courts upon completion of investigations.
