Botswana, South Africa trade deals to continue despite COVID-19 outbreak

Botswana's Vice President Slumber Tsogwane has allayed fears of a trade void between Botswana and South Africa, as the latter embark on a countrywide lockdown on Thursday.
Addressing the nation on Tuesday, though the national broadcaster, Tsogwane said South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has assured Botswana trade will not be disrupted.
"President Ramaphosa has assured that the movement of goods and services between the two countries will not be disrupted in any way," said Tsogwane.
Tsogwane said government will continue to monitor the situation closely, adding that should the situation change, additional measures aimed at protecting citizens and residents of the country will be put in place.
South Africa is Botswana's major trading partner for both goods and services. (Xinhua)
