Boy to sit KCPE behind bars

A  17-year-old KCPE candidate at Tagitech primary school in Nessuit, Njoro sub county, Nakuru county may sit his exams behind bars after police arrested him one week ago.

Family spokesperson Kipkurui Kaptelwa said that the boy Aaron Kipkosgei was accused of being spotted with a girl and arrested in unclear circumstances before being detained at Njoro Police Station.

He said the boy was taken to court on Thursday and released on a cash bail of Ksh 400,000 but was unable to raise the money thus returned to the station.

Kaptelwa said that they tried to persuade the magistrate and the prosecutor to release him on free bond to enable prepare for the examinations that kicks off on March 22 but their efforts were futile.

“He is still at the station being held and we are worried that he may not have humble time to carry out his exams appropriately as he is traumatized,” he said.

Njoro Deputy County Commissioner John Mbugua when reached for comment on the incident denied having any reports of the arrest and promised to follow up on the matter.

Kaptelwa said that they have written a letter to Njoro OCPD Jonathan Kisaka and Njoro Sub County Director of Education John Wangatho to prepare the candidate as they find ways of having him out.

The candidate is being represented by Karen wanderi.
