Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has given contractors a three-week ultimatum to complete pending projects.

He warned that contractors who do not complete projects as per the directive shall have contracts revoked.

“Contractors who fail to observe deadlines risk being challenged in future, especially with the introduction of Huduma Namba that may see some of them blacklisted,” warned Ojaamong.

Governor was speaking yesterday after holding a meeting with contractors awarded Kenya Devolution and Kenya Urban Support Programmes contracts in Busia Town.

However, the county boss has given the contractors last chance after they pleaded for more time to complete their projects within the specified period.

Phase one of the projects are expected to end in December.

“The national government and World Bank are in negotiations to reward best performing counties in execution of their projects.

We have a chance of scooping other awards if we live to our billing,” he said.

Kenya Devolution Support Programme county focal person Robert Papa said contractors should work within the timeline and do a good job.
