Bypass expansion to boost local business

Investors have been told to take advantage of expansion of the Eastern Bypass which has opened unlimited business opportunities.

Kiambu CEC member for Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives Wilfred Kiara also appealed to financial institutions to use the window to help small traders grow.

Speaking during the opening of a new branch for Tower Sacco at Kamakis area in Ruiru, Kiara said banks and other financiers should not ignore the small and medium entrepreneurs who he termed as the key solution to economic challenges facing the country.

While describing cooperative enterprises as crucial in responding to the pressing issues of economic development and social equity in a growing nation, Kiara noted that given the right financing and education, mama mbogas and boda boda operators have a huge potential to transform the country’s economy.

“As a financier you can only ignore these people at your own peril because statistics show that they generate billions of shillings yearly,” said the CEC.

Kiara at the same time, said the county government will give investors and traders a conducive environment to do business with ease by eliminating bureaucracy as well as opening up rural areas.
