Change of guard in Jubilee as Uhuru realigns team
President Uhuru Kenyatta has realigned the management of Jubilee Party in a move its Secretary General Raphael Tuju said is aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2022 polls.
According to pundits, the Thursday, July 8 realignment came after Jubilee lost in the Kiambu and Nakuru by-elections.
Osman Hasan, Kamau Mbugua and Titus Ngahu were appointed as Senior Directors for Outreach, Legal and Elections and Membership respectively.
According to Jubilee party, the recent appointees were approved by the National Management Committee in June 23.
Wambui Gichuru was appointed Acting Executive Director while Albert Mwemusi retained his position as the party's Communications Director.
In a statement, NMC said it arrived at the decision of hiring the five after a meeting chaired by party chairman Nelson Dzuya on Friday, July 2 during a retreat in Nairobi.
Key agenda's discussed by Jubilee included recruitment of members and activating the party leadership at the constituency and county level by opening party offices, rebranding the party and realignment of the secretariat and regional offices.
Dzuya and the team also deliberated on building coalition with like minded political parties while proposing a retreat with like minded MPs, Senators and Governors.
The team also settled on stock taking of the Government's achievements and their impact on society, now and in the near future as the party prioritizes the fight against corruption and the support of all organs fighting corruption.
The realignment of Jubilee party's management team comes after Uhuru met Jubilee candidates for the Kiambaa and Muguga by-elections.
In the meeting, Uhuru was also joined by Raymond Kuria who was to vie for the constituency seat on Moses Kuria's People's Empowerment Party (PEP).
In May, PEP said they would not be fielding a candidate in the Kiambaa by-election in favour of Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a move by the Jubilee party to consolidate it's position in Kiambaa, Uhuru also met Damaris Waiganjo, Lenah Koinange, Lucy Wanjiru and Charles Munyui who had shown interest in the seat after former Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange died in March this year.
