Chaos, confusion at City Hall as Elachi returns: IN PICTURES

A section of the MCAs affiliated to Jubilee Party on Wednesday protested the comeback of embattled Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi at City Hall, claiming she is a “biased” Speaker, who is currently inclined towards the ODM wing in the post-handshake deal.

Police were forced to hurl teargas at the MCAs as they clashed bitterly at City Hall over Elachi.

Videos circulating on social media show window panes at Elachi’s office broken and the room evidently in a messy state.

In one of the short video clips, a shirtless male MCA seats on the floor as Elachi tries to calm him down.

In another video clip, Elachi is seen rinsing her eyes with water to relieve the teargas effect.

On Wednesday, Elachi made the comeback in a manner eerily similar to the way she was ejected from the office when drama erupted inside City Hall on the afternoon of September 10.

Speaker Elachi had earlier dramatically entered her office flanked by a section of ODM MCAs.

Addressing a press conference shortly after gaining access to her office, Elachi accused Jubilee Party leadership for her dramatic ouster in September 2018.

"The party leadership manipulated everyone including Governor Mike Sonko. We have come here to say enough is enough," physically agitated Elachi said.

Elachi promised to bring 'sanity' to the House which she accused of 'abusing' women.
