Chebet, Chepkoech and Chepng’etich to battle in Sotik

Battle lines have been drawn ahead of the second leg of the Athletics Kenya (AK) Cross-Country Series in Sotik, Bomet County tomorrow.

Fireworks are expected in the 10km senior women’s race owing to the calibre of track stars who have signed up for the event.

World Under-20 and junior 6km Cross-Country champion Beatrice Chebet (pictured), world 3,000 steeplechase champion Beatrice Chepkoech and  world 1,500m silver medalist Faith Chepng’etich will square it out for top honours in the race.

“I am prepared for the race and I am confident of winning even though I know it is not going to be easy,” Chebet told People Sport yesterday.

The 2018 Youth Olympics 3,000m silver medallist Mercy Chepkorir will lead a star-studded line-up in the junior women’s 6km race that also has Isca Chelangat, Sharon Chepkemei, Ann Naashisho, Kadogo Chebotibin, Magdalene Cherono, Trizah Cherotich, Sheila Cherotich and Sharon Chepkurui.

The senior men’s 12km event is equally competitive with 2015 3,000m African Youth Championship gold medallist Davis Kiplang’at joining 2008 Beijing Olympics 5,000m bronze medallist Edwin Soi, among others.
