Kitale Catholic diocese  bishop Anthony Maurice Crowley has appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to look for alternative means of unlocking the economy, saying lifting  of the  suspension of travel between counties will only help in escalation  of  coronavirus pandemic cases.

"As disciples of Jesus, we are called to be instruments of God’s protection for the vulnerable and the common good, bishop Crowley said in a  statement in his office Tuesday. The President who is  God fearing should look for alternative ways instead of opening up Nairobi and the coastal Towns," he said

He said since most Kenyans had chosen not to follow the ministry of health guidelines, there wasn't much need opening up the whole country despite the tough economic hardships that many were undergoing.

He hit at the political class for exhibiting a lot of hypocrisy and impunity by going against the rules set up by the ministry of health and wondered why such double standards were being applied.
