Coast private schools attribute impressive performance to team work
Private schools at the coastal region took dominance yet again scooping top positions in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Secondary School is among the top schools in the Coast region which performed well with its top student Asia Abubakar Ali scoring A of 82 points.
Others who performed well include Omar Adan, Samira Mohammed Yusra Rashid and Nafin Swaleh all of whom posted A minus and Mwanaisha Ali Joho who scored a B plus. Mwanaisha is a sister of Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Asia, 17, who said her ambition is to study medicine, attributed her performance to the teacher-student relationship saying she will work hard to make her dream come true.
“My parents and teachers supported me a lot and I must say I am happy to become the top student in my school.
My aim was to study medicine in the University,” said Asia who spoke to journalists at the school after the results were released.
In the results, Sheikh Khalifa had one A plain, 29A minus, 59 B plus, 39 B minus and 25 C plus, translating to a mean score of 8.964 points.
The school’s deputy principal Shaikh Rashid Rajab said the good results was a product of hard work and good relationship between learners and teachers.
At Memon High School in Mvita constituency, Ashraf Mohamed Anil, 19, topped with an A minus of 81 points followed by Said Omar with A minus of 80 points while Mohamed Mutte also got A minus of 79 points. Others are Ahmed Anas who scored A minus of 78 points.
The People Daily also caught up with the youngest best performing candidate, Jaden Angella,16 from Alliance Girls High School who scored A minus of 82 points.
Angela who stays in Kiembeni in Mombasa County says her performance was attributed to hard work and dedication.
